A sustainable symbol for the environment 10 materials for eco friendly promotional items
Meaningful alternatives have long since outstripped conventional plastic articles: Sustainability is also gaining in importance in the promotional items industry. We have been looking at various ways of using ecological resources as the basis for environmentally friendly promotional items for years. Open to new ideas, we are always on the lookout for inspiration and interesting discoveries. We were even rewarded for our work recently with the golden EcoVadis medal.
We would also like to wrap your corporate message in an environmentally friendly package. With promotional items made from these 10 materials, you will make a lasting impression on your customers and employees:
10 sustainable materials for environmentally friendly promotional items
PET is a plastic from the polyester family and is used, for example, in the production of plastic bottles, textile fibers and foils. The advantage of PET is that it can be infinitely recycled or upcycled into new items. It is also resistant to oils, fats and alcohols. The high demand for rPET is reflected in its price. At the moment it is still more expensive than conventional materials, because it can only be produced if enough bottles are also returned. Among our promotional items are ballpoint pens made from recycled PET bottles, for example.
This organic alternative is made from agricultural residues, does not require any petroleum at all, and reinforces normal plastics in the production of advertising materials. This is not only more sustainable, but also results in a visually more attractive structure. In addition, the material is shatterproof, dishwasher safe, tasteless and free of BPA. Bread containers, cereal bowls and any drinking containers can be produced excellently from wheat straw.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) is an international certification system for more sustainable forestry. Forests and plantations receive this certification if they are managed according to stricter social and ecological principles. The goal is to preserve forests in the long term and stop the destruction of rainforests. If you value sustainability a lot, you should make sure to choose products made of fully FSC-certified wood, as the market also has many mixed products in store. For example, we offer pencils and pens made of FSC®-certified wood.
Bamboo is a sustainable alternative to plastics or conventional woods. It belongs to the grass family and originally grows all over the world – except in Europe and Antarctica. Its record-breaking growth makes it particularly sustainable: cut off at the trunk, a new culm always grows back. This means that large stands can be harvested without endangering the overall stock. Again, better to choose 100% bamboo or a sustainable alternative than a mixture that has been proven to be harmful to health. Among our promotional items you will find e.g. personalizable notebooks or key rings made of bamboo.
Linen fabric is a very sustainable material made from native natural fiber, which is biodegradable. In Germany, the (mostly organically grown) flax plant grows in northern coastal regions. This means that long transport routes are not necessary and CO2 emissions can be saved. Especially in summer, clothing made of linen is very popular, because the airy fabric is light on the skin. With us you will find, for example, backpacks or jute bags made of linen, which can be personalized according to your wishes.
Stainless steel can replace many conventional plastic products such as drinking bottles or lunch boxes in the long term. The material is of high quality, durable and above all easily recyclable. We always include various promotional items made of stainless steel in our range.
Cotton is indispensable in the production of clothing and other textiles. However, the origin makes a difference: organic cotton uses up to 90% less water and up to 60% less energy in cultivation than conventional cotton. Fertilization is done with natural additives and producers do not use genetically modified seeds. The fabric is very kind to the skin and easy to care for. The higher price is clearly compensated here by good quality and better wearing comfort. In our range you will find, for example, backpacks or T-shirts made of cotton, which can be printed individually.
The bioplastic PLA (food grade) is made from plant starch, a renewable raw material. Starch from potatoes and corn is available in large quantities and can be easily processed. This creates sustainable promotional items that do not harm the environment: lunch boxes, drinking bottles and Co. made of PLA are biodegradable in industrial composting plants.
Products made of enamel have unbeatable durability. They are sustainable, temperature resistant, impact, shock and scratch resistant. The recyclable material is currently experiencing a retro revival and is especially popular in the production of mugs. Our promotional enamel products can be individually printed and customized with your company logo.
Cork is obtained from the bark of the cork oak. We encounter it again and again in everyday life as a bottle cap, floor covering or pinboard. And rightly so – it is a sustainable all-rounder: the trees are not damaged during harvesting, as they are only peeled and not cut down. This creates a heat-resistant and water-repellent natural product with high durability. In addition, cork is recyclable and very hygienic. For a better eco-balance, the cork fabric should come from Europe, as imported fabrics from Asia are often low-quality material with a long transport route.
